When you get ready to sell your home, every inch of it needs to be neat and tidy. That even goes for your garage.
A lot of home sellers tend to neglect the garage when getting their home ready for sale. That’s a mistake, and we are here today to explain why.
Let’s look at things from the buyer’s perspective. They know what they want in a home, so they look at homes they like. On the inside, they could check off all the boxes on their list. However, if they come and see a dirty garage, it might immediately turn them off.
Just like the inside of your home, you want your garage to be clean and appear as nice as possible. A messy garage often raises questions for buyers. You need to have everything neat and organized so it shows off your storage space, as well as the car space that the garage has.
“
A tidy garage will help you get top dollar.
”
Another reason to tidy your garage is due to the inspection. If you are fortunate enough to get an offer on your home with a messy garage, you will then have to get past the inspector. When inspectors see cluttered garages, they tend to think you are trying to hide something.
The third thing that having a clean garage will do is help you maximize the price you get for your home. A tidy garage will also prevent you from scaring buyers away, which will, in turn, help you sell quicker.
If you have any questions for us about how to go about tidying your garage or anything else real estate-related, give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you.

In order to sell your home for top dollar this spring, you’ve got to make sure it’s staged properly. We’re here with Gina Newell of Premiere Home Stagers to answer some common home staging questions from our sellers.
Gina has been staging both vacant and occupied homes since 2008 and from her experience, staging makes a big difference in the sale of your home, no matter what kind of market you are in. Even in a hot market like the one in Dane County, just because your home sells fast doesn’t mean it will sell as fast or for as much money as it could.
Statistics show that a staged home sells 50% faster and for 10% more money than an unstaged home. Whatever you spend on professional staging services is well worth the cost. We take care of the consultation cost when you partner with us. See our marketing plan here for details.
Here’s how the staging process works. First, Gina and her team start with a consultation and based on her report, you can decide what to move and how to position things to appeal to buyers.
“
Removing your personal items is key.
”
For vacant stagings, Gina recommends staging at least the main floor. For occupied homes, they tend to remove most personal items to make the home appealing to anyone who walks through the door.
You need to make your house appeal to anyone in any demographic. You can’t see those minor imperfections that the next person will because you’ve lived in the home for so long you simply don’t notice them. Removing your personal items is key to helping a prospective buyer envision themselves living in your home.
Thanks to Gina for sharing with us. Staging your house for sale is very important to help you sell faster and for more money. If you have questions for Gina, give her a call at (608) 345-9396 or visit her website here.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you!

Welcome to our home at 8861 Sunstone Lane in Middleton, WI!
8861 Sunstone Lane, Middleton
We bought this house not only as our first home but as a place to start our lives together in Madison. We had been renting for several years but knew we wanted to make the Madison area home so we began looking for houses where we could start our family. It was important to us to find a home that
was in a good neighborhood with access to good schools, parks, restaurants, etc.
When our Realtor® brought us to Hidden Oaks we knew we had found what we were looking for. The moment we walked into our house, we knew we were home. It was the right size for us with an open layout on the main floor, all the bedrooms on the upper floor, master on suite, and it was a new construction on a corner lot.
After living in our home for almost seven years now, we have grown to love it even more. We added a stamped concrete patio off the dining room to add some outside entertaining space. We added a small garden area to the south side of the house to grow some seasonal vegetables for summer cookouts. We also love the carriage lane behind the house which turned out to be a great place to hang out with our neighbors and was even home to the neighborhood block party for a few years.
Now that we have one child, and another on the way, we love having the park and the bike/walking paths in the neighborhood as well. It’s a great way to get outside and have some fun without having to pack everything up in the car and head somewhere.
This is a wonderful home and we know you’ll love and enjoy it as much as we have.

What a better way to introduce our new listing located at Eagle Island View Condominiums than with a letter from the sellers;
440 Water St #211, Prairie du Sac, WI
Welcome to our home!
We know you’ll love this place as much as we do. We bought this condo as our first home when we were engaged to be married and had just graduated college. We started looking for houses and couldn’t find anything we fell in love with. As we expanded our search to condos, we very quickly warmed up to the idea of not having to maintain a yard or shovel snow with our busy schedules.
As soon as we walked into our condo, we fell in love with the luxurious design. It was the perfect size for us with an open layout, spacious master suite, and had beautiful finishes like the gorgeous granite counter tops and tile in the kitchen and bathrooms.
After living in our home for over five years, we have grown to love it even more. The amazing shared patio is a perfect place to sip on wine and grill steaks while overlooking the Wisconsin River. Even our private patio is perfect to bask in the sun on a summer afternoon and read a book. The building is located perfectly with a grocery store, two restaurants, a bank, a park, and a library, all within walking distance! We are surrounded by great neighbors but also feel that we have enough privacy.
We’ve made many memories in our first home including regular walks around the neighborhood or to the nearby park, puddle jumping with the kids in the parking lot, and planting flowers to display on our private porch every spring. We would often walk to the grocery store to grab a few things, swing by The Blue Spoon for dinner, or even stop by the movie theater for some delicious popcorn. We really loved that we could spend time making memories and not have to worry so much about the “chores” involved with home ownership.
After we started a family, we realized that we would eventually outgrow our beautiful home. After having our second child, we knew it was finally time to move on. It is very bittersweet for us to move on to a different home but we hope you love our place as much as we do!
