Air conditioners are something most of us would never want to live without. However, many new homeowners have no idea what it takes to keep these units in good, working order. To make sure the A/C in your own home doesn’t “lose its cool” at the worst possible moment, there are two crucial maintenance tasks you must follow:

Like any major home system or appliance, your air conditioner requires proper care to function as it should.

1. Never run your A/C if the weather outside hasn’t been above 60 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 24 consecutive hours. Doing so could cause your compressor to seize up, and fixing such an issue doesn’t come cheap.

2. Change your air filter and get your unit professionally serviced regularly. Neglecting these regular maintenance tasks could reduce the lifespan of your A/C unit and make it run less efficiently over time.

Like any major home system or appliance, your air conditioner requires proper care to function as it should. Hopefully, these steps have offered some insight into the basics of caring for the unit in your own home.
